I opened my eyes to see sunlight peeking through the curtains. A flurry of butterflies swarmed in my stomach. It was the second day of our trip to Cardigan and today we would hike to the summit. After saying good morning to my bunkmates, I did my usual morning routine and prepared not only my backpack but myself as well. Feeling sufficiently ready for the day I headed down stairs with one of my bunk mates. Given that there was still a whole hour before breakfast we decided to play the game of life seeing us get the game out four boys asked if they could play. There were only three cars and there being six of us we split into teams of two. After a very lively game of Game of Life, with hot coco breaks, it was time for breakfast and to meet up with our hiking groups for the day ahead. After reviewing basic safety and our trail route our group set out for the highlight of our trip. Given the hike took up most of the day and that this box is too small for all the stories that there are to tell I shall only say one thing I will never forget this trip and all the amazing people that helped me. It was a day I will cherish forever. The mountain was beautiful but beautiful can not even start to describe it, it was bewitching the forest that looked like dancing flames atop a mountain. After the hike we were again the first group back so I showered, and got changed into sweatpants. My free time that day was full of laughter, joy, games, and music. Soon after almost too soon it was dinner time. The night from that point continued on much like the last with night time activities and stories. Finally it was bedtime and this beautiful day came to a peaceful conclusion. I will never forget and always remember day two of the mount cardigan trip I took in seventh grade.

Movement, We Do Not Just Move, They Do Too, Ideas, and Things, They All Move...

Today I learned about movement! No, not like the movement of walking, or running, or even dancing. I learned about one of the five themes of geography, which is movement! Movement is defined as the movement of people, things ,and ideas to and from different places. One example, (well it's kind of two examples) of movement is us! Us the students of HMHS went to Cardigan, but we did not just go there and stay forever we had to go back. Basically we moved to and from Cardigan. Another example or two was the spaghetti we ate at Mount Cardigan. The recipe for spaghetti was not native to the moutain. So when travelers came to the mountain they brought the recipe for spaghetti with them. The final example of movement is the hiking gear we brought to the mountain, stuff like boots, rain pants, and backpacks which we also brough, so they moved to and from the mountain. Movement was a hard theme to learn but after seeing some examples in beautiful mount Cardigan I learned what movement is, and with a bit of effort so can you!
